What This Agent Does

The Shape the User Experience Agent helps Product Managers design the desired future user experience for a specific Job-to-be-Done.

Starting from the JTBD the Agent identifies the sequence of user activities, analyses the current experience, identifies friction points and critical moments and proposes how the experience could be improved.

It helps the team move from:

JTBD → User Activities → Current Experience → Desired Experience

The focus is not on immediately defining product features, but on describing how the user should ideally experience each important activity.

What You Can Provide

You can provide the Agent with:

  • User Journey information
  • a Job-to-be-Done
  • Customer Insights
  • customer needs and pain points
  • interviews, observations or customer feedback
  • existing product information
  • competitor information
  • constraints or strategic objectives
  • desired product positioning or experience principles

The more evidence you provide, the more grounded the proposed future experience can be.

The Agent can also start from incomplete information, clearly distinguishing available evidence from assumptions and hypotheses.

How the Agent Works

The Agent starts from the selected Job-to-be-Done and analyses how the user currently tries to accomplish it.

For each relevant user activity, it examines dimensions such as:

  • user objective
  • effort required
  • complexity
  • information needs
  • decisions
  • difficulties and pain points
  • uncertainty
  • emotional experience
  • critical interactions
  • existing evidence

It then challenges the current activity sequence, identifying opportunities to:

  • eliminate unnecessary activities
  • simplify steps
  • reduce effort
  • reduce uncertainty
  • prevent errors
  • anticipate user needs
  • automate low-value activities
  • improve clarity and feedback
  • create more satisfying or differentiated moments

For the most relevant activities, the Agent proposes a desired experience, expressed independently from a specific technical solution.

For example:

Desired Experience
The user feels confident that the configuration is correct before starting.

rather than:

Solution
Display a green confirmation light.

Where useful, the Agent may generate alternative experience concepts and highlight potential “wow” moments where the future product could meaningfully exceed user expectations.

The resulting experience can then be used as an input for the definition of Product Capabilities and Product Requirements.

Human Validation

The Agent supports exploration and structured thinking, but it does not replace Product Managers, designers or real users.

All proposed future experiences should be reviewed by a human to verify that they:

  • remain consistent with the real JTBD
  • are supported by customer evidence where available
  • do not introduce unnecessary assumptions
  • are relevant to the product strategy and positioning
  • are technically and economically plausible
  • do not prematurely constrain the solution
  • genuinely improve the user's ability to accomplish the job

The most important experience hypotheses should subsequently be validated with real users through interviews, prototypes, simulations, usability tests or other appropriate methods.

The Agent proposes and challenges. Humans decide and validate.
